Sebastián León was born in Bogotá, where he began his higher education at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Later, he pursued Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music at the prestigious Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Switzerland), specializing in the performance of historical repertoires from the Middle Ages to the Romantic era.

Praised for his “clear sound, direct projection, and impeccable vocalism and diction” (Diapason), he has performed as a soloist and in ensembles with renowned European groups—including La Morra, Gli Incogniti, Les Talens Lyriques, Al Ayre Español, and Scherzi Musicali—dedicated to medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music. He is the founder and director of the ensemble La Boz Galana, focused on the recovery and performance of Spanish and Ibero-American repertoire (15th–18th centuries), and the founder and guest director of Convivium Musicum Zürich, specializing in German sacred music of the 17th and 18th centuries. His discography includes collaborations with labels such as Glossa, Ramée, Lindoro, Brilliant Classics, and Musiques Suisses, as well as appearances on Swiss Radio and Spanish Radio Television (RTVE).

Alongside his musical career, León holds a PhD in Literary and Cultural Studies from the University of Barcelona. He has been invited to give lectures and courses at institutions such as Yale University, the University of Basel, the Renaissance Society of America, and the Universidad Javeriana, among others. He further complemented his training with courses in editorial design at the Basel School of Design.

Currently, he coordinates the platform Diversas Rimas (diversasrimas.com), a project dedicated to the oral dissemination—through recitation and song—of Hispanic literary heritage from the Golden Age. He also collaborates as a researcher, performer, and musical director with the classical puppet theater company La Máquina Real, merging his artistic and academic pursuits.
